To celebrate World Toilet Day (November 19), OLI challenged 16 artists to turn OLI cisterns into works of art. This was a social and solidarity initiative that was covered by SIC. The exhibition was held at the LX Factory in Lisbon and raised awareness of the fact that 2.4 billion people around the world do not have access to proper sanitation. In other words, one in three people don´t have access to a safe and private bathroom with proper hygienic conditions. In addition to raising awareness of the public health issues this initiative will play a solidarity role. The cisterns will be auctioned and the value raised will revert to a Social Solidarity Association in Aveiro, which cares for people with mental and motor problems.
